Catboat Rides is currently seeking reliable local employees from Early May to late October. We are looking to hire Hyannis residents who will work through the end of the season. The work is fun and scheduling is flexible. Good employees have priority for next years' employment.

BOAT CAPTAIN
Excursion Sailboat needs
EXPERIENCED LOCAL CAPTAIN
To relieve Captain/owner up to 20 hours/week till late October.

-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Current Masters license with sail endorsement.
Hyannis sailor with good local knowledge desirable.
Enrollment in USDT random drug testing program required. Agility and stamina required.
The successful applicant must be on time at all times, reliable, responsible, well dressed, polite and well spoken. Must have good personal references.

-RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

-Execute smooth and safe operation of the vessel. Plan and navigate interesting routes and safe courses according to published schedule, traffic, weather and tides .
Give "hyannis Port speech". Coordinate trip planning with ticket sellers.
Man the helm. Handle the mail sheet, jib sheets, running back stays and stern dock lines. Set and release reefing lines and furl the main sail. Do daily boat inspection including engine.
Supervise first mate on foredeck, in galley and during boat cleaning and closing at days end.
Collect and safe keep daily galley and ticket accounts. Liaison with Dock master as needed.

-GENERAL SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PASSENGERS
Monitor passenger safety at all times. Assist boarding and disembarkation. Answer questions and maintain conversation with passengers about local attractions, the boat etc.
Lead safety drills. Participate in Red Cross CPR and First Aid training.

-WAGES & BENEFITS
Will pay $12/hr during supervised training till ready for solo.

Will pay$18.00/hr during one month solo/probationary period.
Will pay $20/hr for captain who works till end of the season,
with the additional $2/hr payable at end of season.
Wage is calculated on basis of time underway plus 15 minutes/trip
Captain may eat and drink from the galley, except lobster, Roast beef and alcohol.
Captain will also receive some cash tips directly from passengers
T here are no medical, holiday, overtime or retirement benefits.

FIRST MATE

Excursion Sailboat needs:
EXPERIENCED LOCAL SAILORS
up to 40 hours/week till late October.

-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Long term local resident. Hyannis sailor with good local knowledge and bartending/wait staff experience desirable.
Must be at least 18 years old. Agility and stamina required.
Enrollment in USDT random drug testing program required . Participate in safety drills,
The successful applicant must be on time at all times, reliable, dependable, responsible, well dressed, polite and well spoken. Must have good personal references.

-RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

-ASSIST CAPTAIN IN SMOOTH OPERATION OF THE VESSEL
Handling the mail sail and jib halyards, jib sheets, running back stays, dock lines, setting and releasing reefing lines and furling the main sail. Occasional relief of the helm,
Boat cleaning and closing at days end.

-GENERAL SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PASSENGERS
Assist boarding and disembarkation, answer questions and
maintain conversation with passengers about local attractions, the boat etc. Thorough knowledge of content of catboat.com web site.
Participate in Red Cross CPR and First Aid training.

-OPERATION OF THE GALLEY AND BAR
Bartending or wait person experience desirable. Take and record passenger orders, prepare and serve drinks and light snacks, collect cash payments, balance galley accounts, keep coolers iced, track and maintain galley inventory, maintain cleanliness of galley and head.

-WAGES & BENEFITS
Will pay$10.00/hr during one month training/probationary period.
Will pay $12/hr for crew who work till end of the season,
with the additional $2/hr payable at end of season.
Crew also receive $10 -$ 50/day cash tips directly from passengers

TICKET SELLERS

Excursion Sailboat needs
EXPERIENCED SALESPERSONS
up to 20 HOURS/WEEK TILL late October.
Available shifts include: 8:00 pm - 12:15am,
12:00 pm - 4:00 pm, 3:45pm - 8:00 pm

-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Retail or direct sales experience. Hyannis residents with good local knowledge desirable.
The successful applicant must be on time at all times, reliable, responsible, well dressed, polite and well spoken. Must have good personal references.

-RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Arranging own schedule in coordination with other ticket sellers.
Soliciting passengers from the passersby at our Ocean St. Dock point of sale.
Answer questions and maintain conversation with passersby about our boat, local attractions, etc. A thorough knowledge of content of catboat.com web site. is required.
Completing sales including reservations check in, collection of cash, processing credit cards and updating passenger list. Smooth transition to next shift.
Answering phone, phone selling, updating reservation list, giving directions,taking messages.
Maintain accurate account of cash received. Accurately count and safeguard cash.
In addition the morning shift will open the boat, set out deck cushions, set up phone and credit card machine and raise the American flag.
The evening shift will add up the days receipts, reconcile the days cash and credit with the passenger list, Batch out the days credit, disconnect the phone and credit card machine and pass the days accounts the Captain.

-WAGES & BENEFITS
Will pay$9.00/hr during one month training/probationary period.
Will pay $11/hr for ticket seller who works till end of the season,
with the additional $2/hr payable at end of season.
Wage is calculated on basis of actual time worked, check in to check out.
Sellers will also be paid a sales incentive/commission of $1.00 for each adult ticket sold "cold" to passersby who had not previously heard of the Catboat.
Ticket seller works as contract labor without direct supervision and arranges own schedule.
Ticket seller may eat and drink from the galley, except lobster, Roast beef and alcohol.
